Description du poste et missions

The EIB’s Transaction Management and Restructuring Directorate (TMR) is responsible for the financial monitoring, event resolution and restructuring, post signature, of EIB’s (i) EU debt counterparts, (ii) equity funds, equity-type and subordinated instruments after disbursement/investment or signature, as applicable (iii) EU and non-EU private sector distressed transactions.

Each individual Officer will typically report directly to a Head of Division/Head of Unit and will cooperate closely with colleagues from across the Bank. They will also represent the Bank externally, with a wide range of counterparts and co-lenders.


As an Officer, you will be assigned to cover a portfolio of EIB loans/investments, in one of the above areas, based on your skills and experience.

Financial Monitoring/Transaction Management process:

Carry out, according to an agreed programme, reviews of counterparts and transactions in your assigned portfolio of Banks, Corporates, Public Sector entities or Project Finance deals.  Assess credit standing, propose internal counterpart ratings (including ad hoc reviews in response to external market activity),
Monitor the related contracts, ensuring compliance with the protective clauses included in the loan documentation
Handle client contacts, including organising and leading financial monitoring visits
Identify and negotiate solutions/remedies to contractual breaches and coordinate their implementation
Closely follow on-going developments in the relevant industry sector(s), and specific EIB counterparts in the sector

Equity - Divestments and Subordinated Instruments process:

Ensure timely event resolution for contract events by (i) participating in negotiations with external counterparts, (ii) performing investment monitoring and (iii) ensuring compliance with contractual terms
Monitor equity positions and manage exits/divestments
Review and validate valuations and scorings of equity lines, together with counterparts, on a yearly basis, to ensure best practice valuation and coverage
Ensure thorough coverage and monitoring of subordinated instruments, including the application of contractual provisions, throughout their lifetime
Represent the Bank in relation to non-executive advisory functions of its investees
Prepare periodic reports and presentations to the Bank’s Governance bodies and mandate providers

Restructuring - Special Operations and Resolutions process:

Negotiate heavy duty waivers and restructurings
Resolve work-intensive post-signature events
Monitor and report on assigned special transactions including intensive-care transactions
Prepare, when required, watch lists and provisioning and coverage reports for assigned borrowers and transactions
Manage relationships with counterparts and co-lenders in respect to special transactions


University degree, preferably in Finance/Business or any related subject. The CFA qualification would be an advantage
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in one of the core areas
Strong technical expertise in financial analysis/modelling as well as experience in credit risk assessment
Good computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (incl. Visual Basic)
Excellent knowledge of English and/or French, with a good knowledge of the other (*)
In-depth knowledge of specific local markets, and fluency in other EU languages, may be a requirement, depending on the countries of operation of the Division/Unit recruiting
